A-MINI WAVE FOR MONICA When I started listening to K-lite, Monica was the first lady DJ I got familiar with (voice wise that is!) especially through Nitelite and her Sunday afternoon boardwork before Twisted. When I first heard Lindy's voice, I thought she sounded like Monica, same goes for Lannie Chan and even the voice over for Studio 23. Nowadays, I can tell who’s who among the lady voices of K-lite. Actually, it's easy, Lindy sounds sexy, Lannie sounds kinda 'naughty' in a serious way and well, Monica sounds like a combination of both. Let's put it this way, Monica is a fun fearless female. Fun because she gamely sing and give jokes and admit her booboos on the air! Remember"frosted in mid-air?", (that's a classic Monicaism!) Fearless because whenever she sings on the air and deliver her jokes nobody can stop her! The more you tell her to stop, the more she’ll continue. Actually, stop her or not she’ll still go on. (and on..and on.) And female, for obvious reasons.
CHRISTMAS, THE K-LITE WAY
Christmas--the season of giving, is around the corner. The season when people get kind and generous! Why can't it be Christmas everyday? Well, K-lite has always been (and still is!) generous to their listeners, from their cool freebies (I like the Streetlite the best!) to their cool music, they've always been generous. They always satisfy their audience! K-lite always come up with cool events and what-have-you, now, since, it's the season of giving, K-lite is giving yet another really cool freebie in the form of cash. (yes, money as in 'pesoses'!) If my memory serves me right, this is the first time that they'll give cash as their freebie. I guess, they were saving the best for last huh? I was surprised when I heard the plug for this particular freebie. I said to myself, "I could use some of those right about now."
Let's just say money is too tight to mention especially if you're not earning some. With the cost cutting and all, K-lite is really making it a memorable Christmas for us, listeners, as Monica would say "a mini wave for K-lite!" (I couldn't agree more!)
DOIN' IT THE LANNIE CHAN WAY She was known as Miss Y or X (can't remember!) when I started hearing her voice on K-lite. Nowadays, she's known as Lannie Chan. She comes in during the wee hours of the night or the early morning of the day. So, her regulars are those insomniacs out there. From what the other DJs say, Lannie is the singer among the group, unfortunately, she's not like Monica who sings on the air (especially on Nitelite) gamely. Too bad, I didn't hear Lannie and the rest of the ladies sing on the air during their Christmas party. I hope her regulars heard her.
AEON'S WAY
Well, as usual, my news about K-lite is old news already by the time you read this. The date today is January 01, 1999, yeah, the first day of the new year. This is supposed to be the Nov/Dec ish, I mean, this is the Nov/Dec ish of my so-called newsletter. What else could it be? My newsletter is like a review of what happened to K-lite for the past month or so, as much as I wanted to make the news fresh, I can’t! Why? Well, because most of the time, I can’t come up with something if I haven't been there or if I haven't experience it first hand. I’m not a very imaginative person. 
According from some K-lite DJs and newsies, Monica has OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder!) I guess, she's really keeping up with the image of her namesake in FRIENDS huh? (Kidding!) Well, I think, Monica likes things to be neat and in order. (Nothing wrong with that!)
Some listeners hate her singing some listeners love it. But when it comes to giving advice on Nitelite, well, I can say most listeners like her for that. The last time I checked the K-lite poll, she's the most favorite DJ on K-lite and the only way you'll find out is by listening to her.
Behind that joke giver who sings on Nitelite who thinks (or feel?) she's Rachel Greene is a person who knows how to have a good time. Whenever you listen to her on Nitelite, BOREDOM will not come your way. That's Monica.
Here are some short takes on the lady. I learned this facts (or fiction?) just by being a listener of K-lite.
She's an animal lover. If Keanu Reeves is gay, he's the only gay guy Monica would go out with. Her favorite TV Show is FRIENDS. Her all-time favorite movie is When Harry Met Sally. She likes to watch Melrose Place. Her Thursdays are slurry because of Nitelite and her Sundays are lazy well, because, Sundays are meant for lounging and staying in bed. Cute guys for Monica: Chris O'Donnell, Ricky Martin (definitely!), Mark McGrath (flyguy!), Mel Gibson (lethal blue eyes), Matthew Fox.
Well, hope you're satisfied with my take on Monica. And to you Miss Monica, Happy Birthday! Corrections and/or violent reactions, I'm just an e-mail away.
So, let's talk about the freebie, well, it's actually a raffle happening on the 22nd of December 1998. To be included in the said raffle, you have to join the contest for it, you get at least one chance for each dj. So, the chances of getting your name in the raffle is not farfetched. You just have to be the right caller at the right time. Don't be a cheater, if you get in the raffle, don't join again and use your friends or relatives names, that's a BIG no-no. Be content, because even if you have multiple names on your side, if it's not meant for you, it's not for you. Besides, you automatically get a CD whether you get lucky or not. The major stakes on the K-lite Christmas Shopping Money Spree are as follows: 3rd prize, P10000! (I can use the internet for 33 unlimited days for that amount!) 2nd prize, P20000! (I can buy 142 cassettes or 512 happy meals for my sister with that amount!) and the 1st prize is….(drum roll, please….) P30000! (I can definitely buy some neat books for my self, definitely!)
Isn't it nice to think of what-to-buy if you-have-that-much-money? (actually, it could pass up a game, my cousins and I always play it, 'if I have a million dollars, I'd...' the list just goes on…and on…and on...!) And you think of stuffs and people along that said game. Well, let's just hope the people who'll get lucky will use it wisely. (and share it too! According from the official K-lite website, Lannie would've been in a convent (really now!) if K-lite didn't came along. I find that hard to believe! I really do! (hehehe!) Her voice alone sounds 'naughty' in a serious way (if ever there's such a way!) I guess, that's why she has a lot of male listeners. (That I can believe!) Kidding aside, I do think she's a religious lady but she's also naughty at the same time! Lannie Chan is also known as Tinkerball, why? You have to see the caricature Benjie (my sister's friend) made for K-lite's 3rd anniversary. It was a cute caricature. You gotta see it. Nowadays, she's at the helm of Lite & Live.
How does she keep her audience stay with her throughout her boardwork? Well, she hypnotizes them with her voice (just kidding!), the truth is, she almost always play her listeners requests, she acknowledges their presence too, she gives feng shui (did I spell that right?) tips, and her fun and addicting triple treat game, it's fun especially during those time of the night. (Or day!)
Lannie Chan's favorites: Antonio Sabato Jr., Rob Thomas, Ricky Martin, Mark McGrath, Dakota Moon, Beck, 98 Degrees, Human Nature and Celine Dion! (hehehe!) Last laugh or not I can still laugh about it, right? Miss Lannie Chan, the good sport?!

What can I say, a lot happened during the months of November & December on K-lite. For me, K-lite’s November was too much to handle. First, they had part two’s to two cool events. STREETLITE 2, was a BIG success once again, I made it to 2 out of the 4 gigs! I missed Passage! (or should I say, I missed Ira!) But I was able to see Southborder though, and they were GREAT! Glad I made that one! Next was the 2nd Drive-in movie featuring US MARSHALS and I couldn’t say if it was better than the first because I wasn’t able to make it! I did have the car pass though! (there’s always a next time!) And a lot of birthday celebrants too! Like, Miss Queenie (8th), Ron South (20th), Lannie Chan (21st), Monica (22nd), Don Henry (24th), Jessica Zafra (26th) to all of you, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And December was an exciting month, a memorable one at that. Ricky Martin came to town.(I just had to add that!) Especially December 22nd for us, K-lite listeners. Why? Well, it was the date when 3 lucky listeners won Shopping Money from K-lite. CONGRATULATIONS to those who won!
And it was also K-lite’s Christmas party, I was invited but I had to say NO, because, I think, it wasn’t appropriate for me to be there. I mean, I was
really grateful about the invitation but you know, that’s me. I had to say NO! Maybe, next time I’ll be brave enough to actually accept an invitation as big-a-deal as that from them! That will be the day! It’s like walking into a place wherein you know the people but you’re not actually sure how to act around them. I imagine it would have a lot of unavoidable silences (now, I’m imagining things!) Man, well, I still really have to work on my confidence when it comes to talking to people. Not just the K-lite people. Most people. That’s my weakness. I don’t know if I should ask questions or I should wait for them to tell me what they wanna tell me. I don’t wanna be nosy! And I guess, I’m not! (yet!) Well, this is the first day of the new year and I’m talking about confidence. WOW! That’s really something! I could actually talk about it now, I’m getting somewhere! For all I know, in the future I might be a speaker or something! Well, that’s wishful thinking! I could NEVER be a speaker! I’m too nervous for my own good. And I hardly drink coffee! What’s coffee got to do with confidence? I don’t know! Well, expect my coming newsletters, 2 to 3 months delayed. SORRY! I’m gonna work on being punctual! Hey! I forgot!
